‘Ailina
The author lives in culturally saturated Lafayette, Louisiana where the music and food are unsurpassed, except by the warm cordiality of the local residents. She is herself a transplant to South Louisiana after spending the majority of her upbringing in the sleepy Cenla city of Leesville, and a few years overseas in her birthplace, Hawai’i.
‘Ailina is a homemaker and home educator, having taught her children for six years to present. She holds down the fort alone for prolonged periods of time while her high school sweetheart, “Miner,” makes his living in the offshore industry.
‘Ailina’s “offsprigs” range in age from five to fifteen: one boy, four girls. They are her delight and inspiration.
Her creative pursuits include writing fiction, nonfiction, and poetry; charcoal portraiture; sewing; and studying Hawaiian language and culture. Most recently, she began an exploratory study of the art and history of Shotokan karate-dō.
Her writing and artworks have appeared on rare occasion in modest local publications, including The Louisiana Review, an annual publication of Louisiana State University at Eunice. In April 2006, she realized her dream of competing in the prestigious Merrie Monarch Festival hula competition in Hilo, Hawai’i.
Of all the sources of joy in ‘Ailina’s life, her greatest fulfillment comes from her beloved Heavenly Father, whom she aspires to serve every day of her life.

Aloha!
It is so good to see a fresh face on your blog and active posting. It very much resembles the new you that I see in your recent writing.
My spirit swells with happiness as I read your lastest entries. I can see His work in you. You are often in my thoughts and prayers.
I stumbled upon a Christian womanhood site the other day. Funny, as I had just been telling Justin how I feel I’ve lost my “whatever it was about me that inspired others to greatness.” Reading the site, the dried up spring began to slowly revive, until now there is a song in my heart, a dance in my feet, and a smile on my face. Basking in the warmth of God’s love, I can make a difference in the world around me. I had become cold and critical, and even callous, to an extent. But God peeled it away and reminded me who I am and how he made me.
His timing in restoring the hearts of his daughters is amazing. This world is crying out for authenticity, simplicity, purity, and sincerity. By restoring our hearts and spirits, He can love others through us. There is no greater purpose in life than to show God’s amazing love.
I would love to sit down and visit with you, hearing how God has moved in your life in these months, but I know our schedules and locations do not make it easy. Perhaps God will provide a way for us to meet up before August. If that is not the plan, though, I am content in the knowledge that He is guiding us ever closer to himself, bringing us closer together in the process.
Me ke aloha,
na Puakaimana
